Brooklyn O'Neill is a Brisbane-based indie folk and indie pop singer-songwriter whose music is built on honest storytelling, emotion and connection. Through heartfelt lyrics and understated production, she creates songs that explore the moments and relationships that stay with us long after they've passed.
Her debut single, Noise, was inspired by a powerful scene from the manuscript of a close friend's forthcoming novel, transforming a single moment into an intimate indie folk/pop soundscape. After years of performing at events across Queensland, Brooklyn is now focused on sharing her original music, bringing the same authenticity and emotional connection that have shaped her live performances into every song she writes.
Whether inspired by personal experiences or the stories of others, Brooklyn hopes her music gives listeners a space to reflect, feel understood and find pieces of their own story within each song. With more music on the horizon, Noise marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in her journey as an artist.
Noise began in an unexpected way. After reading the manuscript of a close friend's forthcoming novel (What Grows From Stone by Olive Mannella), I found myself thinking about its characters and themes long after I'd finished reading. Their story stayed with me, and before long, I found myself writing a song inspired by the emotions it left behind.
As my debut single, I wanted to release a song that felt genuine and introduced me as a songwriter. This track represents my love of storytelling and the belief that music and literature can connect in unexpected ways.
My hope is that listeners connect with the song in their own way, whether they've read the book or simply find something familiar within the story the music tells.
